The Academy Part I: Success=Effort!

It was a cloudy Sunday morning when I left for training at the Fitness & Business Academy before I would be placed on a suitable ship. The training was for 4 weeks and all students lived in accommodation in Watford, London. I remember that morning I was packing a few last minute things whilst at Maria’s place and also finishing off a few Fitness To A Tee online client programs. I had told most people that I was going to be quiet for a few weeks as I was training at a Fitness & Business Academy in London to further my qualifications. At that point, because I needed to pass the training first – I decided not to tell people about joining a cruise ship. I also wanted to do something for myself where I was giving my all without having too many outside voices besides God, myself, my sister Eden and my closest friends.

Robert (Maria’s husband) and 1 of Maria’s daughters Neema drove me to my accommodation that Sunday afternoon after I said goodbye to Maria and her youngest daughter Lily. I was scared but I felt so strongly that everything was going to work out somehow, particularly because I had been strengthening myself spiritually over the weeks that I had been staying with Maria.

From day one at the Academy, I decided that I wanted to document my journey through videos and writing because I could feel in my spirit that this journey was something bigger and more meaningful than just a sequence of events. I decided that once again my story was somehow going to impact someone else out there, to motivate them that you can go through some stuff honey – oh you can...BUT you can rise through what others may see as “ashes” and make something out of those ashes – something that shines so bright like a star!

So I started with my first day, recording exactly what I felt and did– no holding back. And even though I had some brilliant days, Ialso had downright, dirty, wipe tears and snot from your nose typedays. Oh yes – when I look back at some of the videos, I think wowhow did I come out of that? But I smile because I did!

I sent most of my Academy day videos to my sister and best friend Maria because I wanted to keep them updated on my daily life at the Academy and because I was so busy with classes and daily exams – I didn’t have time to call or text them too much. They also echoed what I had been thinking – that I needed to share them with the world whenever I felt ready to.

Please note I look tired as hell in most of the videos lol because I was! I was working so hard to build my life up again and my hard work always pays off. As one of my super inspirational former managers on the ship always says “effort in – effort out!” Amen!

My routine at the Academy went like this everyday for 4 weeks.

I would get up at 4.30am or 5am; pray; update anything I needed to for my business clients/Fitness To A Tee; study/prepare for the Academy day ahead; have a 15- - 30 minutes workout then get ready to spend the day at the Academy until 7pm.

After 7pm, it would be dinner then more study. I could handle thisbecause the fire inside of me to do what I was born to do on thisEarth is too strong. Of course it’s tough because I have to havethe discipline of a monster and some days I fail terribly at it. BUTthe key is to stand up, 1 leg at a time, dust yourself off thenstart walking again.

I learnt to build my confidence again day by day. Success comes from going from failure to failure and continuing with enthusiasm, knowing that it’s not really a failure – just a lesson. Arise and shine for your light has come!

With 1 of my colleagues at the Academy.

My sister and my close friends were my strong link to who I truly was and was becoming! They helped me push through. I also definitely kept sane by starting my day with prayer; affirming good things about my life/about myself and listening to motivational songs, sermons and speeches as often as I could.

When I did those things – I constantly stayed in a high, positive vibration and when I felt exhausted or emotionally broken – those practices uplifted me minute by minute. Everyone needs something positive to lift them higher – something that doesn’t involve destructive behaviour or that is harmful to the body – to bring them back to themselves. For me – it’s definitely God and my walk with Him.

If I didn’t have that I would have spiralled downwards in partying, alcohol, anything to try and block out pain...and never rose up again. I’m really grateful that I arose. I arose and shone – for my light came!

You can follow my videos on my YouTube channel by clicking here now! Please note that I’m uploading the academy ones in parts so subscribe to the channel to stay updated. In none of the videos, do I discuss any confidential matters/daily goings on of the Academy. This is my personal journey as I transitioned from a caterpillar to a butterfly lol!

Keepwalking with me in my journey of Part 2 of the Academy where I roseup like a lioness; graduated and then left for my assigned ship andlife onboard!! Eeeek – exciting!!
